One of the aspects that are assessed on the exam is the 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 of your answer and the 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘀.

To meet this criterion, you need to use 𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗦, and you need to use them correctly. Here are some linking words and tips on how to use them:

👉These are the linking words that you can use to add similar information in a new sentence: “𝗕𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀,”, “𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿,”, “𝗔𝗹𝘀𝗼,”. Make sure you 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮 after them!

👉When you need to introduce 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, for example “adults and children”, you can use “𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘀” instead of “and”. This will instantly make your Writing sound more professional: “adults as well as children”

👉To introduce 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮 in a new sentence, you can use “𝗛𝗼𝘄𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿,”, “𝗜𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁,” “𝗢𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱,”. Remember to 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮 after them as well!

👉To 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻, you can use “𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲” 𝗮𝗻𝗱 “𝗮𝘀” instead of using “𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲” all the time. Both of them sound a little more formal than “𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲”. “𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲”, “𝗮𝘀” 𝗮𝗻𝗱 “𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲” are used to introduce 𝗮 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 (𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 + 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗯), for example: “I didn’t go out because it was raining”. If you want to 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻, you need to use a different structure: “𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳” 𝗼𝗿 “𝗱𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼”, for example: “I didn’t go out because of the rain” or “due to the rain”. “𝗗𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼” sounds more formal.

👉To 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁, you can use “𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁,”, “𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲,” 𝗼𝗿 “𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲,”. You have to 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮 after these. “𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲,” is usually used at the beginning of the sentence.

! 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴, so make sure you 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀 using these linking words in the comments, and 𝗜’𝗹𝗹 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸
